Rummy 500 rules
Dig into the discard pile, meld big and race to 500.

- Standard playing cards
The goal
Be the first player to reach 500 points from cards you meld, minus cards stuck in your hand.
How a hand works
- 1
Deal
Deal 7 cards each (13 each with two players). Turn one card up to start the discard pile, spread so every card shows.
- 2
Draw
Take the top stock card, or any card in the discard pile — but you must take every card above it too, and meld the deepest card you took right away.
- 3
Meld and lay off
Lay down sets (3–4 of a kind) or runs (3+ in a row, same suit). You may also add cards to anyone's melds — they score for you.
- 4
Discard
End your turn by discarding one card. The hand ends when someone goes out or the stock runs out.

End of a hand

- 2.He's still holding an Ace (15).
- 3.Hand score: 51 − 15 = 36.
Winning tips
- Big pickups from the discard pile can win the game — or leave you stuck.
- Lay off onto other players' melds to dump cards.
- Go out quickly when others hold lots of cards.
Popular house rules
- Some tables score Aces as 15 even in a low run.
- Some tables require calling 'Rummy' to steal a playable discard.
