Oh Hell! rules
Say exactly how many tricks you'll take. Not one more, not one less.

The goal
Score the most points by hitting your bid exactly, hand after hand.
How a hand works
- 1
Hands grow, then shrink
Hand 1 deals 1 card each, hand 2 deals 2, and so on up to the largest hand (10 cards, or fewer with lots of players), then back down to 1.
- 2
Turn up trump
After dealing, turn the next card face up. Its suit is trump for the hand.
- 3
Bid exactly
Starting left of the dealer, each player says how many tricks they'll take.
- 4
Play the tricks
Follow suit if you can; otherwise play anything, including trump. Highest trump wins, or highest card of the led suit.

A 5-card hand
- 1.Leo bids 2 and takes 2 → 12.
- 2.Mia bids 0 and takes 0 → 10.
- 3.Ava bids 3 and takes 2 → 0.
Winning tips
- Zero bids are easiest on small hands.
- Trump cards win tricks you might not want.
- The dealer bids last and knows the most — use it.
Popular house rules
- The 'hook': the dealer may not bid a number that makes the bids add up to the hand size, so someone must miss.
- Some tables score 1 per trick even on a missed bid, or subtract points for misses.
- Some tables play only up, or only down.
