🃏 How to play
Kings in the Corner rules
Solitaire, but social. Build down, move piles and park Kings in the corners.
- Players
- 2–4
- Time
- 15–30 min
- You need
- Standard playing cards
The goal
Be first to play every card from your hand. Everyone else scores penalty points for cards left — lowest total when someone reaches the target wins.
How a hand works
- 1
Set the cross
Deal 7 cards to each player. Put the deck in the middle and turn four cards face up around it — north, east, south and west.
- 2
Draw to start
Begin each turn by drawing one card from the deck.
- 3
Build down, alternate colours
Play cards onto any pile in descending order and alternating colour — a red 6 on a black 7.
- 4
Kings go in the corners
Kings can only start the four diagonal corner piles. You may also move a whole pile onto another pile if the bottom card fits, then fill the empty space with any card.
- 5
Go out
Play as many cards as you like on your turn. The first player to empty their hand wins the hand.
Penalty points (cards left in hand)
- Each King10
- Every other card1
End of a hand
- 1.Ava goes out.
- 2.Leo holds K♠, 4♥ and 9♣ → 10 + 1 + 1 = 12.
- 3.Mia holds 2♦ → 1 point.
Winning tips
- Play Kings into the corners as soon as you can.
- Moving piles frees up space for the cards you're stuck with.
- Hold a card that blocks the next player only if you can afford the point.
Popular house rules
- Some tables play a fixed number of hands instead of a target.
- Some tables score every card at face value.
